Romantic Era

             Imperialism vs Post Imperialism

Imperialism

This is Pont Boieldieu in Rouen, Rainy Weather by Camille Pissarro. Pissarro created this artwork based on what could be seen from the window in the hotel. Pissarro had to stay indoors during the colder months due to some health issues so he took to making artwork based on what he could see from his hotel room window. I really like this painting compared to the painting by Monet because it is a lot clearer. The painting by Monet looks like it a painting done during a really foggy day and it is harder to see what is portraited in the painting done by Monet. I also really like how Pissarro put a lot of detail into his painting to make his painting look realistic.
This painting is Impression, Sunrise by Claude Monet. Monet was born in Paris, France but he moved to the beaches in Normandy which sparked his passion for painting what he saw in the ocean. This painting is what he saw from his window one morning. He uses brushstrokes to create the shadow of the ship through the thick fog. I personally do not love this painting because it is really hard to make out what is in the background of the painting.

Post Imperialism

This painting is Bouquet of Sunflowers by Claude Monet. This painting is an oil on canvas painting that was created in 1881. I really like how Monet put the bouquet on a red tablecloth so that the bouquet of flowers would stand out more.

This painting is Sunflowers by Vincent van Gogh. Van Gough created this oil on canvas painting in January of 1889. Van Gough has created five different paintings of sunflowers. I like both of the paintings of the sunflowers but I think I like the painting by van Gogh a little bit better because it stands out a little bit more. I really like how van Gogh put the sunflowers in front of the blue wall because it makes the sunflowers and vase stand out more.
